Solid sci-fi with good casting and good performances all around. The settings is ghost in the shell (1995) / bladerunner (1982) and that is also the feeling of the movie even though some moments are clearly inspired by Ex Machina (2014).
Guy Pierce does these kinds of roles excellent, but might be too famous for a role like this as it might detract from the movie itself (despite a solid, not aced, performance). Travis Fimmel in makeup might have been a bad choice, those kinds of gearing up seldom work and detracts fromt he realism - but here it half by half works - enough to not kill the feeling and in a couple of scenes even well enough that I wasn't bothered by it.
If you liek sci-fi there will be nothing new here, but it is still a solid watch.
Semi spoiler below:
The anticipated twist (transference of consciousness) was missing and replaced with a more common realistic one.
